Ethno restaurant "Mehomiya" is located in the heart of the Central Park in the town of Razlog. The establishment is housed in an extremely valuable and authentic building, which in the past functioned as an old Turkish bath.<\/p>\n

Today, this building, restored to a European design, combines the magic of bygone eras with modern requirements for culinary comfort. This turns the restaurant into an emblematic place, offering not only delicious food, but also a true journey into Bansko was liberated<\/a>. \u2728<\/p>\n

\u2b50 Origin of the name:<\/strong> It is believed that the name "Mehomiya" derives through the Turkish language from the ancient Iranian name for the Polar Star - \u201eMehi Miyan Osman\u201c<\/em>, which literally means \u201e"The Nail in the Middle of the Sky"\u201c<\/strong>. \ud83c\udf1f<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

  • \ud83d\udd39 First information (1519):<\/strong> The first mention of the name Mehomiya is in an Ottoman register from 1519. The settlement was built on a clean, empty site, which is why there are no archaeological finds in the outlines of today's Razlog.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udd39 Construction of the bathhouse (1903):<\/strong> The Turkish bath was built by Taksim Bey, a Kaymakani in Razlog (1901-1905). As a highly educated man, he initiated the construction of a mosque and a Konak in Mehomiya, as well as an Orthodox school in Yakoruda.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udd39 Architectural masterpiece:<\/strong> The building is modeled after the baths of the 17th-18th centuries. In the middle there was a large marble slab for the calves, vents for the domes, and a vestibule for changing clothes.<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udd39 Innovative heating:<\/strong> It had a complex heating system through the boiler flue (in dual systems) and underfloor heating through the drain water. \ud83d\udd25<\/li>\n
  • \ud83d\udd39 Development over the years:<\/strong> After the Liberation, the bathhouse was also used by Bulgarians, with separate days for men and women. After 1945, a laundry annex was added to it, which functioned until the 1970s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
