The infrastructure was fragmented, and access to the higher reaches of Pirin was a challenge reserved for the most ardent enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/vbansko.com\/en\/shiligarnika-bansko-ski-zone\/\"   title=\"The Shiligarnika\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"5124\">The Shiligarnika<\/a> (The Heart):<\/strong> This is the historical core. Back in the 1980s, the first ski runs in the area of today&#039;s ski runs No. 5 and 10, served by &quot;anchor&quot; type ski lifts, operated here.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chalin Valog:<\/strong> The oldest terrains, which we know today as runways No. 15 and 16, served as a training base.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The logistical constraint:<\/strong> The lack of a cable car forced skiers to travel by private cars or overcrowded buses along the narrow road, which often took hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"color: #222;\">Stage 2: The Great Change and the \u201cTomba\u201d Era (2001 \u2013 2004)<\/h2>\n<p>The key moment for <strong>Bansko ski area<\/strong> occurred in 2001 with the start of the concession of \u201cYulen\u201d AD. In just three years, the ski map was redrawn, putting Bansko on the world map.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"color: #444;\">The Gondola: The Backbone of the Resort<\/h3>\n<p>In 2003, the 8-seater gondola line was opened <em>Doppelmayr<\/em>. It revolutionized the city (990 m above sea level) by connecting it with <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/vbansko.com\/en\/banderishka-polyana-bansko-history-food-guide\/\"   title=\"Banderishka meadow\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"5122\">Banderishka meadow<\/a> (1620 m above sea level) in less than 25 minutes. Designed as a technical and uncompromising course, it was personally opened by Alberto Tomba in December 2003.<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background: #eef9ff; border-left: 10px solid #00a3da; margin: 1.5em 10px; padding: 0.5em 10px; font-style: italic;\"><p>\u201cBansko is no longer just a hill for beginners, but a World Cup arena capable of hosting the best skiers in the world.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"color: #222;\">Stage 3: Expansion and Connection (2004 \u2013 2010)<\/h2>\n<p>After building the \u201cbackbone\u201d, the resort focused on capacity and diversity. Due to the restrictions of Pirin National Park, development became \u201csmart\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>By 2025, Bansko will have over <strong>400 technical snow guns<\/strong>, covering 90% of the territory. This guarantees a season from December to mid-April, regardless of weather changes.
