But for thrill seekers and freeriders, the real magic begins where the markings end. The legendary <strong>The cups under Todorka<\/strong> are perhaps the most famous, but also the most treacherous off-piste areas in Pirin. Located directly below the majestic peak, they attract like a magnet, but often turn into a trap.<\/p>\n<p>They are the embodiment of the classic freeride dilemma: <em>easy access, but extremely complex and risky exit.<\/em> Before you take your skis or board down, you need to be aware of the geography of the area.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #f8f9fa;border-left: 5px solid #0073aa;padding: 20px;margin: 30px 0\">\n<h2 style=\"margin-top: 0;color: #0073aa\">Geography of adrenaline in Chashite pod Todorka<\/h2>\n<p>\u201eThe &quot;cups&quot; are huge glacial cirques descending from the ridge. Choosing the wrong direction here is not just a navigational error, but a potential threat to life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"color: #2c3e50\">1. The Western Slopes (Towards Banderishka Polyana)<\/h3>\n<p>This is the more popular and \u201csafer\u201d country from a logistics perspective, but don&#039;t underestimate the terrain.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Terrain:<\/strong> Steep gullies at the top that open into wide fields and pass into a sparse forest.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Output:<\/strong> With the correct trajectory, these slopes naturally lead back to the slopes (usually to the \u201cPlatoto\u201d or ski road for <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"The Shiligarnika\" href=\"https:\/\/vbansko.com\/en\/shiligarnika-bansko-ski-zone\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1818\">The Shiligarnika<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Risk:<\/strong> High avalanche danger in the upper part, especially after new snow and wind.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"color: #c0392b\">2. The Eastern Slopes (Towards Demyanishka Valley) \u2013 \u201cThe Trap\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>This is the area that requires the most attention. Risk of falling into impassable vegetation, waterfalls and rocks. Followed by a long, flat walk to the road for <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/vbansko.com\/en\/for-bansko\/\" title=\"Bansko\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4477\">Bansko<\/a>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"color: #2c3e50\">Why are they so dangerous?<\/h2>\n<p>Besides the logistical nightmare of getting out, <strong>The cups under Todorka<\/strong> hide objective deadly risks that every freerider must respect:<\/p>\n<div style=\"grid-template-columns: 1fr;gap: 20px;margin-bottom: 30px\">\n<div style=\"background: #fff3cd;border: 1px solid #ffeeba;padding: 15px;border-radius: 5px\"><strong style=\"color: #856404\">\u26a0\ufe0f Avalanche danger<\/strong><br \/>\nThe slope is between 30\u00b0 and 45\u00b0 \u2013 the perfect angle for snow boarding. The wind often carries snow from the west to the east side, forming treacherous \u201cvisors\u201d right at the entrance to Chashite.<\/div>\n<div style=\"background: #fff3cd;border: 1px solid #ffeeba;padding: 15px;border-radius: 5px\"><strong style=\"color: #856404\">\u26a0\ufe0f The illusion of closeness<\/strong><br \/>\nSince the lift is close, many unprepared skiers decide to \u201cgo for it\u201d without an avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel. This is a fatal mistake.<\/div>\n<div style=\"background: #fff3cd;border: 1px solid #ffeeba;padding: 15px;border-radius: 5px\"><strong style=\"color: #856404\">\u26a0\ufe0f Terrain Traps<\/strong><br \/>\nAt the bottom, the terrain narrows into a funnel shape. During an avalanche, the snow accumulates to a great depth right there, making survival almost impossible.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"color: #2c3e50\">The golden rule of safety<\/h2>\n<p>If you decide to drive in this area, follow strict discipline:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding: 0\">\n<li style=\"background: #e8f5e9;margin-bottom: 10px;padding: 15px;border-left: 5px solid #2ecc71\"><strong>1. Never alone:<\/strong> Freeride is a team sport.<\/li>\n<li style=\"background: #e8f5e9;margin-bottom: 10px;padding: 15px;border-left: 5px solid #2ecc71\"><strong>2. Required equipment:<\/strong> <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"PIEPS\" href=\"https:\/\/vbansko.com\/en\/avalanche-warning-bansko\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1820\">PIEPS<\/a> (avalanche device), probe, shovel and ABS backpack are the minimum.<\/li>\n<li style=\"background: #e8f5e9;margin-bottom: 10px;padding: 15px;border-left: 5px solid #2ecc71\"><strong>3. Knowing the route:<\/strong> For the Eastern Cups you need to know exactly where to \u201ccut\u201d the forest. Be prepared for at least 40-60 minutes of walking to the exit.<\/li>\n<li style=\"background: #e8f5e9;margin-bottom: 10px;padding: 15px;border-left: 5px solid #2ecc71\"><strong>4. Checking the conditions:<\/strong> Always follow the bulletin of the Bulgarian Avalanche Association (BAA) before setting off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 30px;font-style: italic\"><strong>The cups under Todorka<\/strong> are the pearl of Bulgarian freeride \u2013 beautiful and large-scale. But they do not forgive ignorance. They are \u201ctempting\u201d, but the price for a wrong decision can be very high.
