This large lake group, located in the heart of the mountain, attracts thousands of tourists every year with its crystal clear waters and dramatic alpine landscapes. Located in a stepped pattern in the Banderitsa Circus, they give rise to the Banderitsa River and offer routes suitable for both beginners and experienced mountaineers.

💡 Interesting fact: Although the group has a total of 16 lakes, only 5 of them are large and significant enough to bear their own names. The remaining 11 are small and often dry up during the hot summer months.

Geography and origin of the Banderishki Lakes

The Banderishki Lakes are located in the Central Northern Pirin and have a typical glacial origin. They lie on a solid granite base, which is the reason for the exceptional transparency of their waters and the specific blue color. The total area of the lakes is about 12.7 hectares, and the difference in elevation between the lowest and highest is impressive - over 250 meters.

The water in them is weakly mineralized (with the presence of sodium and chlorine ions) and cold. Even in July the temperature rarely exceeds 10-12 °C, making swimming a challenge only for the bravest (and is prohibited within the National Park).

The Five Major Lakes: Characteristics

Here is a detailed description of the named lakes, ordered by their popularity and location:

1. The Eye (Ravna Lake)

This is the lowest lake in the group and the most easily accessible. It is located only 15 minutes from Vihren hut. Its name comes from its almost perfect round shape. It is small but extremely beautiful and is often the first encounter of tourists with the magic of Pirin.

2. Muratovo lake

Located at the foot of Mount Muratov, this lake is a photographer's dream. On calm days, the peak is perfectly reflected in the water surface. This is one of the most photogenic places in the entire mountain.

3. Banderishko Fish Lake

The second largest lake in Pirin (after Popovoto). It is located in the valley and the main marked trail passes by it. An ideal place for a longer rest and picnic.

4. Frog Lake

This is the highest lake in the group, located under the southern slope of Malka Todorka Peak. It plays the role of an important distribution point - the paths to Demyanitsa hut and shelter branch off from here. Tevno Lake. Although shallow, it offers a panoramic view of the entire circus.

5. Long Lake

It is located in a deep valley and is surrounded by steep cliffs, which gives it a raw and majestic appearance. Its shape is elongated, hence the name.

Routes and duration from Vihren hut

The starting point for all Banderishki Lakes is Vihren hut (1950 m above sea level), which can be reached by an asphalt road from Bansko. The area around Banderishki Lakes is rocky, dotted with moraines, and the weather changes in minutes. To make your hike enjoyable and safe, prepare the following:

Shoes: High-top hiking boots with hard soles are required. The terrain is mostly rocky (granite) and sneakers are not suitable, as the risk of sprains is high.

Clothing: Wear layers of clothing. A windbreaker and raincoat are a must, even if the forecast is for sunshine.

Sun protection: The high altitude and the sun's reflection off the water and rocks burn the skin quickly. Wear a hat, sunglasses and a high factor sunscreen.

Water and food: There are no water fountains in the higher parts. Bring at least 1.5 liters of water per person.

⚠️ Warning: Near the lakes there are junctions to Demyanitsa hut, Tevno Lake shelter and Sinanitsa hut. Follow the markings carefully, especially in fog, as orientation in the rocky cirque can become difficult.

The Banderishki Lakes are the pearl of Northern Pirin. Whether you take a short walk to the Eye or a full-day hike to the Frog Lake, the emotion of being in contact with wildlife is guaranteed.

Ако търсите най-емблематичните гледки в Национален парк „Пирин“, величествените Бъндеришки езера са задължителна спирка във вашия план. Тази голяма езерна група, разположена в сърцето на планината, привлича хиляди туристи ежегодно […]

[1035,1033
282,9789,9183,9785,9787,787,788,196,771,278
post-37915","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pirin-i-negovite-pateki","category-planinski-marshruti-i-razhodki","tag-banderishki-ezera","tag-banderishki-czirkus","tag-ezera-v-pirin","tag-zhabeshkoto-ezero","tag-letni-marshruti-bansko","tag-muratovo-ezero","tag-okoto","tag-pirin","tag-planinski-turizam","tag-hizha-vihren

["GET
