They are some of the oldest living organisms in this part of the mountain.

The trees are located in the area below the "Yellow Rivers", which falls within the strict biosphere reserve. „"Bayuvi Dupki - Djinjiritsa"“ – one of the oldest reserves in Bulgaria (established in 1934).

🚗 How to get there? (Logistics)

Since this is a local route, your starting point is Yavorov chalet„ (1740 m above sea level). To reach the hut, you need to travel towards the town of Razlog and turn off towards the Betolovoto area. From there, a forest road leads up - off-road vehicles can reach almost the hut itself, while standard passenger cars are better off parked on the extensions below. The hike along the yellow markings from the lower part of the road to the hut takes between 1.5 and 2 hours.

🥾 Description of the route

1. From the Yavorov hut in the forest
The walk starts directly from the meadow in front of the hut. You take the forest path, entering the cool shade of the tall trees. The slope is very gentle and smooth, which makes the walk extremely pleasant. Under your feet there is a soft carpet of fallen needles.

2. Entering the reserve
After about 20-30 minutes of walking, you will pass information signs indicating the boundaries of the Bayuvi Dupki – Dzhindzhiritsa reserve. Here the forest becomes noticeably older, wilder and untouched by human hands. The mosses and fallen tree trunks create a fairy-tale feeling.

3. At the "Candlesticks"„
After less than an hour of leisurely walking you will reach the trees themselves. Their girth and height are impressive. Standing at the foot of these 600-year-old giants, one can truly feel the grandeur of Pirin nature. The place is conducive to silence and contemplation.

Planning a light and relaxing hike in Pirin?
