From premium dry kibble and veterinary diets to fresh raw meat for BARF fans, you will find everything you need here. In this fourth part of our guide, we will guide you through the best shopping locations.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Pet stores in Bansko and Razlog: Local solutions<\/h2>\n<p>There are several specialized pet stores in the region, which maintain a surprisingly wide assortment for the size of the city.<\/p>\n<h3>Pet shop &quot;Friends&quot; (Bansko)<\/h3>\n<p>This store is well known to local farmers. It is conveniently located near the Post Office and the ideal city center.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Assortment:<\/strong> They stock a large selection of popular high-end kibble (such as Royal Canin, Pro Plan, Hill&#039;s, and other mass premium brands).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Special orders:<\/strong> If your dog or cat is on a specific medical diet (e.g. hypoallergenic food, kidney failure diet or urinary problems), the owners are very responsive. You can order it from them and they will deliver it to you within 2-3 business days.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accessories:<\/strong> Here you will also find quality muzzles (which, we remind you, are mandatory for the gondola lift), sturdy leads, toys, and warm winter clothes for smaller breeds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Pet stores in the neighboring town of Razlog<\/h3>\n<p>If you are traveling to the town of Razlog (5 km from Bansko) anyway to shop in the large hypermarkets, stop by the pet stores there (for example the one near <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/vbansko.com\/en\/yes\/lidl-reason\/\" title=\"Lidl\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"8086\">Lidl<\/a>). BARF and Raw Feeding in the Mountains<\/h2>\n<p>If you are a fan of biologically appropriate raw food (BARF), Bansko is simply the perfect place for you. Access to quality, local meat is much easier here than in the capital.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Butchers:<\/strong> There are several excellent and well-established butcher shops in the city (such as &quot;Sachi&quot; and other local producers) that offer Bulgarian meat with guaranteed origin and veterinary control.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What to order:<\/strong> You can arrange with butchers to regularly purchase beef trimmings, hearts, livers and tripe at extremely good prices. Very often they will be happy to give you (or sell you for pennies) large beef bones, which are ideal for cleaning your dog&#039;s teeth.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Sunday market:<\/strong> Every Sunday in the center of Bansko there is a market where you can buy fresh homemade eggs, cottage cheese and seasonal vegetables directly from producers in neighboring villages - perfect additions to the BARF menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>4. Online deliveries: The salvation for specific tastes<\/h2>\n<p>If your dog consumes super premium brands (such as Acana, Orijen, Taste of the Wild) or strictly specialized medical foods that you can&#039;t find in physical stores in town, online shopping is your solution.<\/p>\n<p>All major online pet stores in Bulgaria (Zoomagazin.eu, Petmall, Stefanov, etc.) serve Bansko without any problems. Vigilance is key here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mushrooms:<\/strong> The forests around Bansko have a huge variety of mushrooms, some of which are highly poisonous. If your dog is gluttonous and has a habit of eating everything off the ground, keep an eye on him.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carcass and wild remains:<\/strong> In wilder areas, it is possible to come across the remains of wild animals. In addition to the serious risk of severe bacterial infections and indigestion, digging through carrion can attract unwanted predators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>6. Bonus: Drinking water in Bansko<\/h2>\n<p>Owners often ask if they should buy bottled water for their animals. The answer is a resounding no. The tap water throughout Bansko comes directly from the high mountain water catchments of Pirin.
