Before 2003, access to the Bansko ski area depended entirely on weather conditions and narrow mountain roads. The only way tourists to reach Banderishka Polyana and The Shiligarnika was by private vans — slow, uncomfortable, and seasonally limited.
The construction of the gondola lift radically transforms Bansko. The investment in a modern gondola corresponds to international standards of ski tourism and gives impetus to the entire development of the resort - from hotel construction to nightlife.
Today the Gondola is not just a transport link, but emblem of Bansko — the point around which the economic and tourist life of the city is organized.
Access to the ski area is only by minibus on narrow mountain roads. Capacity is very limited and depends on weather conditions.

Anyone who has stepped foot in Pirin knows the characteristic sound of the Gondola. But what exactly is happening above our heads?
A system with a continuously moving steel cable. The cabins are automatically attached and detached at the stations.
The route runs from the center of Bansko to the upper station of Banderishka Polyana.
Lower station: ~998 m above sea level · Upper station Banderishka Polyana: ~1620 m above sea level.
The climb from the lower to the upper station (via the intermediate station Chalin Valog) takes about 25 minutes.
Each cabin accommodates up to 8 passengers with comfortable seats and mountain views.
The support rope is made of hundreds of steel strands. It is subject to regular safety inspections.
The starting station is in the southern, highest part of Bansko. It is accessible on foot, by ski shuttle or by private car with parking nearby.
Purchase a ski pass or a single ticket. The cabins run continuously; when busy, they slow down for safe boarding.
The cabin automatically hooks onto the moving rope and picks up speed. The view of the valley and Bansko is unforgettable.
Arrival at Banderishka Polyana (~1620 m). From here the real adventure begins. ski area and exits to all main ski slopes and lifts are revealed.
During the winter season, the Gondola is the main artery of Bansko. It connects thousands of ski tourists with 75+ km of marked slopes — from green for beginners to black for advanced skiers.
Thanks to the lift, Bansko hosts elite World Cup ski competitions.
Few tourists know that the Gondola operates in the summer as well. It is the fastest and most environmentally friendly way to reach the starting points of numerous tourist routes in Pirin National Park.
