⛈️ Afternoon storms — The main risk

The biggest danger in June is not the cold, but rapidly developing thunderstorms after lunch. In Pirin they appear in 30–45 minutes. The rule is simple: leave early in the morning, get off open ridge areas before 1–2 p.m. Never stay on Koncheto or Vihren in the afternoon when clouds are gathering.

🥾 Routes — Full access (with exceptions)

Visiting in June the first month with full access to the high parts, including Vihren and Tevno Lake. View all hiking routes. Attention: On the northern slopes and in the steep cirques, there may still be dangerous snow drifts (tongues). Crossing them without crampons or experience is risky.

  • Transition to Popovo Lake — the largest lake in Pirin, accessible from Bezbog hut. A calm, picturesque and accessible walk for moderately prepared tourists.
  • Route Vihren Hut — Sinanishko Lake — Sinanitsa Hut — a classic and extremely beautiful summer hike leading to the "blue eye" of Pirin.

  • Don't go on routes over 2000 m without a warm layer and raincoat — the temperature can drop by 10–15°C in minutes during a storm.
  • Do not cross. steep snow drifts (tongues) with regular sneakers — slipping on hard June snow often ends fatally.
  • Don't underestimate UV radiation at high altitude — burning 2500+ m in 2 hours without cream is completely realistic, even in cloudy weather.
