🚗 How to get there? (Logistics)
The starting point of the route is near the Popina Laka area, above the town of Sandanski. It is reached by a well-maintained asphalt road (about 18 km from Sandanski). You can leave your car in the designated wide parking spaces near the Yane Sandanski hut. From there, the trail starts on foot, clearly marked with signs of the Pirin National Park Directorate.
🥾 Trail description
The hike starts off smoothly, entering the cool embrace of ancient forests. From the very beginning, the terrain is extremely welcoming, mostly a forest path, strewn with roots and small stones. Following the river, the route offers numerous places for a short break and photos.
As you advance in altitude, the forest begins to thin out, giving way to squat formations and revealing beautiful panoramic views to the surrounding peaks. The markings are excellent, and the educational signs serve as great guides for your progress along the trail. The final part takes you to the beautiful area of the same name, where you can enjoy a well-deserved picnic.

⚠️ Important to know
Although the trail is classified as easy, keep in mind the following: the stones near the Bashliytsa River can be extremely slippery, especially after rain or in the early morning hours due to dew. In winter conditions, the trail is covered with thick snow and orientation requires GPS and experience. Mobile coverage is variable - in the lowlands around the hut it is available, but in the gorge it is often lost.
