Bulgaria's National Day is a moment of pride, worship and unity. In 2026, Bansko will celebrate 149 years since the Liberation with large-scale celebrations that will turn the foothills of Pirin into a center of patriotic spirit.

Program of celebrations for March 3 in Bansko

Bansko Municipality is preparing special events to honor the heroes' feat. The holiday March 3 in Bansko traditionally includes:

  • Ritual of raising the national flag: Solemn ceremony at the central square "Nikola Vaptsarov".
  • Laying wreaths and flowers: Worship in front of the monument to the Bansko Buditeli and the monuments to the heroes who gave their lives for freedom.
  • Holiday concert: Participation of local folklore groups performing Bulgarian Renaissance songs and dances that ignite Bulgarian self-awareness.
  • Thanksgiving prayer: Memorial service for the fallen soldiers at the Holy Trinity Church.
