Logistics: How to get to Dobarsko hut?
Access to the hut is categorized as medium to easy, which makes it an ideal choice for family tourism. Geographically, it is located only about 20 kilometers from the city Bansko и Razlog, which makes it a great alternative for escape when the Pirin trails are overcrowded.
Starting point: Village of Dobarsko
It all starts from the center of the village of Dobarsko (known for its unique old church “St. St. Theodore Tyron and Theodore Stratilates”). If you have a car, it is best to park it in the village square. From there, you are waiting for about 5 kilometer hike along a wide forest road marked with blue markings. The road gradually gains altitude, following the course of the Klinets River.
The walk takes an average of about 2.5 to 3 hours normal pace. The route is extremely varied, passing through cool centuries-old forests and open meadows, which in summer are dotted with wild raspberries, strawberries and herbs. The elevation gain is about 650 meters, distributed very evenly, which is gentle on the knees and does not tire the children.

Dobarsko Hut does not claim to be luxurious – it is a typical, classic mountain building that will take you back to the roots of true mountaineering. The building is two-story, massive, with a capacity of about 35 places. The rooms have several beds (wooden bunks and standard beds with mattresses). Electricity is provided by a generator and solar panels, so it is possible to have a power outage (especially at night). Sanitary facilities and washrooms are usually shared. The hut has a spacious and very cozy dining room with a wood-burning stove. Tourists have access to an equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own food brought in your backpacks. Routes: Where to after Dobarsko hut?
Besides being a perfect destination for a weekend hike, Dobarsko Hut is an important intermediate station to the high peaks of Southwestern Rila:
- To the Macedonia hut (About 3 – 3.5 hours): This is the most popular route. The trail starts up through the forest, emerges onto the open ridge and passes over the Dobro Pole saddle. The crossing is extremely panoramic and connects you to the main spine of Rila and the E-4 route.
- To Mount German (2484 m): A beautiful panoramic peak that rises above the area. The climb to it takes about 2.5 hours and offers phenomenal views of Pirin to the south.
