When you need to get rid of old furniture, electrical appliances, construction waste or hazardous substances, the question logically arises: How do I do it correctly? In Bansko, there are several options for environmentally friendly and legally compliant management of various types of waste that will help you resolve this issue without the risk of sanctions.
Contacts of the responsible institutions
For almost all types of waste in Bansko, the first step is to contact the competent authorities.

Household and construction waste
Construction waste
Materials from repairs, dismantling and construction activities (bricks, concrete, roof tiles, tiles, wood, plaster, metal pipes, etc.) require a prior request.
OP "Bansko Public Works" provides a container for temporary storage, which facilitates collection and transportation.
Unregulated disposal of construction waste is prohibited and may result in fines. from 300 to 1000 BGN. for individuals.
Old furniture
For removing old furniture – sofas, tables, armchairs, mattresses, etc. – you have two options:
- Hire a removal company that provides dismantling, removal, and transportation to a licensed landfill.
- Contact the Bansko Public Works Department, which can also organize transportation.
Leaving furniture next to household waste containers is prohibited and subject to sanctions.
Separate collection of recyclable materials
A separate collection system through colored containers, managed by ECOPACK Bulgaria, operates on the territory of the municipality.
There are 81 containers with a volume of 1.5 m³ located in the city, divided by type of material:
- Yellow container – plastic and metal
- Blue container – paper and cardboard
- Green container – glass
Packaging should be emptied, rinsed and, if possible, folded. Dirty or greasy paper is not accepted.
In 2021, residents collected over 2,500 kg of glass in just one of the "Bansko Recycles!" initiatives.
Electrical appliances and electronic equipment
Old electrical appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, televisions, fans, etc.) are treated as hazardous waste.
Bansko Municipality periodically organizes mobile collection points.
In June 2025, a campaign was held to accept electrical appliances, batteries and accumulators in the area of the former barracks in the Karagyacha area.
