🥾 Top 5 Educational Trails in Pirin

1. Demyanishka River tells the story
This picturesque trail follows the course of the Demyanitsa River. Starting from the asphalt road above Bansko, it enters the cool forest. Along its length there are boards that introduce you to the power of water, the inhabitants of the river and the forest ecosystems. The terrain is gentle, and the constant murmur of the water has an extremely calming effect. It is ideal for hot summer days.

2. To the kingdom of edelweiss
This route (starting in the area of the Banderitsa and Vihren huts) aims to introduce tourists to the unique alpine flora of Pirin and in particular to the symbol of the mountain – the edelweiss. The trail gains a slight height and introduces you to the harsh world of marble rocks, where these rare flowers thrive. Important: The edelweiss is a strictly protected species, enjoy it only with your eyes and a camera!

3. To the Bashliytsa
This eco-trail is located in the southern part of the park (usually accessible from Sandanski and the Popina Laka area / Yane Sandanski hut). It takes visitors along the Bashliytsa River valley, revealing the secrets of the ancient forests and the specific fauna of Southern Pirin, which is distinguished by a milder climate and rich biodiversity.

4. Rolban Alley (Dragostinov Chark area) – The Accessible Mountain
This is an extremely important and noble project of the Pirin National Park. Located above Bansko (in the Dragostinov Chark area, just above the road to the Vihren hut), the alley is specially paved and adapted for people in wheelchairs. In addition, the path has information signs in Braille and special tactile paths that allow people with visual impairments to also experience the magic of the Pirin forest.

5. Baykusheva mura – living history
The most popular, shortest and perhaps the most impressive educational stop! It is located a few meters from the asphalt road just above the Banderitsa hut. A short path with stairs leads to the oldest coniferous tree in Bulgaria – a black pine tree over 1300 years old. The information boards around it tell about its discoverer (Konstantin Baykushev) and the history of these ancient trees.
