The promenade will take you to the highest point of the historic Golak Hill, rising 901 meters above sea level. There, a true visual feast awaits you and an opportunity to completely disconnect from the city noise while admiring the majesty of the Bulgarian mountains.
Why is the Stairs Panoramic Walk the perfect family walk?
One of the biggest advantages of this magnificent eco-trail is its absolute accessibility. The climb only takes about 15 to 20 minutes at a leisurely pace, making it extremely suitable for families with small children, as well as for people without prior physical training.
The route itself is well maintained and consists of comfortable, wide wooden steps, flowing into smooth forest paths. As you walk up through the fragrant pine forest, you will never get bored. Along the entire length of the Panoramic Alley Stairs There are interesting and beautifully crafted information boards. They tell curious facts about the local flora and fauna, the geology of the region, as well as the ancient Bulgarian calendar. This turns the walk not only into a physical activity, but also into a wonderful outdoor educational lesson for children.
The name of the alley does not come only from the wooden steps along the path. From the top of Golak Hill, the natural phenomenon "The Steps" in Northern Pirin is clearly visible - seven majestic marble peaks that from afar look like a giant staircase leading to the sky. It is this phenomenon that the entire eco-trail is named after.
The 12-meter tower and the magic of three mountains
The culmination of your walk along Panoramic Alley Stairs is the impressive 12-meter observation tower, erected at the very top of the hill. Its architecture is impressive, combining wood and metal to fit naturally into the surrounding environment. Once you climb the stairs to its highest platform, an incredible, breathtaking 360-degree panorama of three of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains will open before you:
- Pirin Mountain: With its majestic, ash-gray and snow-white marble peaks that seem so close you could touch them.
- Rila Mountain: Rising proudly in the distance with its rounded and green ridges, hiding deep lakes and ancient forests.
- Rhodope Mountains: Gently embracing the horizon with their soft and mystical shapes.
From this height, the entire Razlog Valley is visible as if in the palm of your hand – the city's neat houses, green meadows, and winding roads create a landscape worthy of a postcard.
What else will you find at the top of Golak Hill?
The creators of the project have thought of every detail so that the panoramic promenade is a place for complete relaxation and restoration of strength. Around the observation tower and along the ridge of the hill, dozens of resting places have been designated, where you can spend hours. Among them, the most prominent ones are:
- Wooden sun loungers and benches: They are strategically located on the edge of the hill and are ideal for gathering sunlight with a direct, unobstructed view of the alpine profile of Pirin.
- Unique panoramic swings: This is every child's favorite place, and many adults' too! Here you can literally swing "over the city" and take the best photos for social media.
- A huge cross and the Bulgarian tricolor: Impressive symbols of faith and freedom that soar high above the valley and complement the special atmosphere of the place.
Although the hike is short, it is recommended to wear comfortable sports shoes. In the summer months, don't forget sunscreen and water, as there is limited shade at the very top. The trail is accessible year-round, but in winter the steps can be slippery, so be careful!
