Snow blowers for the yard and hotel in Bansko: Prices, Models and Shop

A man uses a gasoline snowplow to clear snow in front of a house in Bansko with the Pirin Mountains in the background.

If you've read our article on snow removal methods, you already know that for a serious winter in Pirin you need serious equipment. We're not talking about the big snow removal trucks on the roads, but about personal snow blowers for home and yard, that will save you from the shovel.

The market is flooded with models, but which one should you choose? Should you support local businesses in Razlog or order online from Amazon Germany? In this article, we will look at specific machines suitable for the conditions in Bansko, and where exactly you can find and service them.

Class 1: Budget Solutions (For Small and Flat Yards)

These models are suitable for areas up to 200 sq m and regular cleaning of fresh snow.

Raider RD-SB04 (Gasoline)

Why: The most affordable option on the market. Parts are easy to find, the service network in Bulgaria is huge, which is important when looking for low snowplow prices.

Price: About 800 – 1000 BGN.

Pike 9123

Why: A Czech brand with slightly better build quality than mass-produced Chinese models.

Price: About 900 – 1100 BGN.

Class 2: The Golden Mean (For houses and villas)

These are machines for areas from 300 to 800 sq m that can handle slopes and packed snow.

STIGA ST 4262 P / ST 5266 PB

Why: Excellent price/quality balance. The “Snow Hog” tires are a must for the icy streets of Bansko. The higher models have heated grips – invaluable at -15°C.

Price: 1600 – 2500 BGN.

Class 3: Professional machines (For hotels and steep terrain)

If your property is on a slope in the old city or you are cleaning a large parking lot.

Honda HSS 760 (Chain)

Why: “The ”Mercedes” of snow blowers. The chain drive guarantees that you won’t skid, and the hydrostatics give you full control. It runs flawlessly for years.

Price: Over 5000 BGN.

Husqvarna ST 224 / ST 324

Why: Ergonomic, powerful and designed for Scandinavian winters. They don't get clogged by wet snow.

The alternative: Should we order from Amazon.de?

More and more Bulgarians are looking to Amazon Germany for tech. They often find brands like McCulloch, AL-KO or Einhell at promotional prices. But is it worth the risk?

Criterion Local store (Bansko/Razlog) Amazon.de (Germany)
Price Higher (includes surcharge and service). Often lower (especially on Black Friday).
Delivery Immediately (if available). Expensive for heavy shipments (100-300 euros) or slow through an intermediary (Gabco/GGBG).
Warranty On site. If it breaks down, they repair it immediately. Difficult. You have to return a 100 kg machine to Germany at your own expense.
Preparation You receive it assembled and filled with oil. In a carton. Assemble yourself.
Our verdict:
For heavy gasoline machine (over 50 kg) we do not recommend Amazon, unless you are technically savvy and willing to take the risk with the warranty. For replacement parts, accessories, and lighter electric shovels – Amazon is a great choice.

Where to shop in the region?

The most important rule when buying equipment for the mountains: Buy from a place that offers service!

1. Razlog (The Commercial Zone)

Since it is the industrial center of the valley, there is the largest selection here.

  • TeMax: It is located at the entrance from Bansko. They offer brands such as Raider, Daewoo, Gardenia. It is convenient because they are open on weekends as well.
  • Small shops in the city: Ask for Stihl and Viking representatives in the center or industrial area.

2. Bansko

Here, rely on specialized stores for forestry and garden equipment (usually dealers of Husqvarna or Stihl).

The advantage: The owner is often the technician. If your machine breaks down at Christmas, your local dealer will help you much faster than a large chain that sends the machine to a repair shop in Sofia in 30 days.

3. Blagoevgrad (60 km distance)

  • Praktiker & Mr. Bricolage: Wide variety of brands (Stiga, MTD, Raider).
  • Agroland: Specialized service and shop, often a Husqvarna representative.

Bonus: Machine Preparation Checklist

Before the first snow falls, make sure you're ready:

  • Oil: Change the oil with fresh, winter grade (5W-30). Old oil loses its properties.
  • Shear pins: Buy at least 5 spare auger bolts. They break if you hit a rock to save the engine. Without them, the machine is unusable.
  • Fuel: Don't use old gasoline from last year - it may have clogged the carburetor. Pour in fresh gasoline.
  • Silicone spray: Spray the inside of the chimney and auger thoroughly. This will prevent wet snow from sticking and clogging the machine.
