Bansko bus station timetable: Regular lines to Sofia
The journey between Bansko and the capital is the busiest and most popular route. For your convenience, buses from the resort travel to two main bus stations in Sofia, which facilitates connections to other cities or transfers to Sofia Airport.
To Sofia – Central Bus Station
The lines arriving at Sofia Central Bus Station are the ideal choice if you are about to transfer to a train, international bus, or need quick access to the "Central Railway Station" metro station.
- Approximate departure times from Bansko: 04:58, 07:00, 12:51, 15:15, 16:20, 17:23 (excluding Tuesdays and Saturdays) and 17:50.
- Trip duration: It usually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Weather may vary depending on traffic on the Struma highway.
To Sofia – Ovcha Kupel Bus Station
This bus station serves mainly destinations in Southwestern Bulgaria. It is extremely convenient if your final destination is the southern or western districts of the capital. The Ovcha Kupel II metro station provides excellent connections to the rest of the city.

Buses to Blagoevgrad, Plovdiv and Gotse Delchev
In addition to the connection with the capital, Bansko Bus Station offers regular services to other key administrative and cultural centers.
Travel to Blagoevgrad
As a regional center and a student city, Blagoevgrad generates a daily passenger flow. Almost all buses traveling to Sofia stop in Blagoevgrad, making the line very reliable.

The scenic route to Plovdiv
The connection between Bansko and Plovdiv passes through the beautiful Yundola mountain pass and the spa capital of Velingrad. The journey is a real treat for the eyes, albeit a little slower.
- Schedule: The lines to Plovdiv are less frequent than those to Sofia (usually one morning and one afternoon course are run). Be sure to call the above-mentioned telephone numbers to confirm the exact departure time.
Lines to Gotse Delchev
The Bansko - Gotse Delchev route is well-served. A large part of the buses departing from Sofia to Gotse Delchev pass through the resort.
- Approximate hours: There are buses almost every hour between 08:30 and 19:48.
Useful tips for tickets, luggage and ski equipment
Tickets can be purchased directly at the ticket offices in the bus station building. In the active winter season (December - March), during national holidays (Christmas, New Year, March 3rd) and major festivals, seats on the buses sell out quickly. We strongly recommend that you purchase your ticket at least one or two days in advance or make a telephone reservation, if the carrier company allows it.
Connection with the Rhodope Narrow Gauge Railway
Since the bus station and the train station share a common square and are located literally next to each other, many tourists choose to combine the two modes of transport. You can arrive in Bansko by fast bus, and for a relaxing walk to neighboring Dobrinishte, the village of Banya or the highest station in the Balkans (Avramovo), use the narrow-gauge railway for a completely authentic experience.
