Rich history and architecture 📜🕌

The history of the place and the building is filled with interesting facts that add extra value to every visit:

• 🔹 First information (1519): The first mention of the name Mehomiya is in an Ottoman register from 1519. The settlement was built on a clean, empty site, which is why there are no archaeological finds in the outlines of today's Razlog.
• 🔹 Construction of the bathhouse (1903): The Turkish bath was built by Taksim Bey, a Kaymakani in Razlog (1901-1905). As a highly educated man, he initiated the construction of a mosque and a Konak in Mehomiya, as well as an Orthodox school in Yakoruda.
• 🔹 Architectural masterpiece: The building is modeled after the baths of the 17th-18th centuries. In the middle there was a large marble slab for the calves, vents for the domes, and a vestibule for changing clothes.
• 🔹 Innovative heating: It had a complex heating system through the boiler flue (in dual systems) and underfloor heating through the drain water. 🔥
• 🔹 Development over the years: After the Liberation, the bathhouse was also used by Bulgarians, with separate days for men and women. After 1945, a laundry annex was added to it, which functioned until the 1970s.
