Bansko Municipality again launches a campaign for free castration of yard pets

Bansko Municipality has once again launched a campaign for free castration of yard pets.

With this initiative, the municipality calls on residents to take responsible care of their dogs and ensure they live longer and healthier lives. Neutering is the most humane and effective way to control birth rates and reduce the stray animal population.

Did you know that just one dog pair prevents the birth of over 60,000 unwanted puppies over 6 years? This results in fewer strays on the streets and more beloved pets in every home. In addition, neutered animals live longer, are healthier, calmer, less aggressive, and experience less anxiety.

As the owner of a neutered dog, you are exempt from the annual tax under the Local Taxes and Fees Act. Bansko Municipality gives owners the opportunity to neuter their yard dogs for free.

Owners with a permanent address within the municipality can benefit from the campaign. Each participant receives free castration, microchipping, passport issuance and registration in the municipal registers.

The campaign starts on November 19, 2025 and ends on December 19, 2025. For more information and to book an appointment, you can call 0749/88651 every weekday from 8:00 to 17:00.

This campaign is part of the municipality's long-term strategy for a socially responsible attitude towards pets and improving the urban environment, while supporting animal health and reducing the number of stray dogs.
