To keep you from getting lost in a sea of administrative tasks, bank meetings, and marketing strategies, we've created this comprehensive 30-day checklist. He divides the entire process into four logical weeks. Follow it step by step and in just a month your business will be fully legitimate, visible online and ready to receive its first clients under the peaks of Pirin.
💡 How to use this guide?
We recommend that you bookmark this page and return to it every morning for the first month to ensure you don't miss any key details regarding the legalization and marketing of your project.
Week 1: Foundation and Administration (Days 1-7)
The first week is dedicated entirely to building a solid legal foundation. Without it, every next step carries the risk of fines.
- ✅ Day 1: Name selection and verification. Come up with 3 options for your company name (in Cyrillic and Latin). Check if they are available in the Commercial Register of Bulgaria.
- ✅ Day 2: Meeting with an accountant. Find a local accountant in Bansko. Discuss whether it is more profitable for you to be an LLC or a freelancer, as well as whether you fall under the scope of Article 97a for VAT registration (mandatory if you work with clients in the EU).
- ✅ Day 3: Address management. Decide where the company's official headquarters will be. If you don't own property and don't want to use an apartment, sign a lease agreement. Virtual office in one of the coworking spaces or accounting houses in Bansko.
- ✅ Day 4-5: Preparation of documents. Your lawyer or accountant will prepare the Articles of Association, Declarations and Specimen. Take the specimen to a notary in Bansko or Razlog for personal signature verification.
- ✅ Day 6-7: Fundraising account and login. Open a savings account at a selected local bank (UBB, DSK, FIB, etc.). Deposit the initial capital (by law, a minimum of 2 BGN, but experts recommend at least 100-200 BGN to cover initial bank fees) and submit the documents to the Registry Agency.
Week 2: Financial Establishment and Tools (Days 8-14)
The documents are approved and your company is now officially registered (Congratulations!). It's time to set up the financial flows.
- ✅ Day 8: Current account. Return to the bank with the current status from the Commercial Register. Transform the savings account into an active business current account and apply for electronic banking (request a software token for the mobile phone so you don't have to carry flash drives).
- ✅ Day 9: Obtaining an Electronic Signature (ES). Purchase a Qualified Electronic Signature (e.g. from B-Trust, StampIT or InfoNotary). You need it for official communication with the NRA and signing contracts online while traveling.
- ✅ Day 10: Authorization of an accountant. With your new electronic signature, authorize your accounting firm before the National Revenue Agency. This way, they will be able to submit your monthly social security contributions and VAT returns remotely.
- ✅ Day 11: Company seal. Order a company seal. Although the law no longer requires it for every action, bank branches and some institutions in Bansko still insist on it for official documents.
- ✅ Day 12-14: Invoicing software. Choose and set up an invoicing system. If you operate primarily in Bulgaria, platforms like fakturi.bg are excellent. If you work internationally, integrate Stripe, PayPal, or Xero.
⚠️ Warning: Insurance is starting to run out!
Remember that from the day you officially declare the start of business, you owe social and health insurance contributions as a manager. Check with your accountant the exact date (usually by the 25th of the following month) to avoid interest.
Week 3: Digital Presence and Local SEO (Days 15-21)
In a city like Bansko, if you are not easily discoverable on the internet, you simply do not exist for tourists and digital nomads.
- ✅ Day 15: Google Business Profile (Google Maps). Create an account now. Enter your exact name, address, phone number, and business hours. Add at least 5 high-quality photos of your business or service. This is your most powerful source of free traffic.
- ✅ Day 16-17: Website “Business Card”. Buy a domain and create a basic, mobile-optimized landing page. It should clearly explain: Who are you? What do you offer? How can they contact you?
- ✅ Day 18: Social networks. Create professional Facebook and Instagram pages. Make the first 3-4 posts showcasing your team and the value you bring to the local market.
- ✅ Day 19-21: Involvement in local communities. Join key Facebook groups like Bansko Notice Board и Bansko Digital Nomads. Introduce yourself and your new business to the thousands of members there (focus on how you solve a problem, not just on direct sales).
Week 4: Networking and Soft Power (Days 22-30)
The business is administratively and digitally ready. Now it's time to get out there and network. In the mountain town, personal recommendations are the strongest currency.
- ✅ Day 22: Coworking trial day. Visit one of the city's co-working spaces, even if you're working from home. This is where international partnerships are born.
- ✅ Day 23-25: B2B Meetings. Walk up to 5 local businesses you could partner with (e.g. hotels, restaurants, ski lockers or real estate agencies). Introduce yourself in person and leave a business card.
- ✅ Day 26: Attend a local event. Go to a networking presentation or an informal event (like a Friday night barbecue). Tell at least 5 new people what you do.
- ✅ Day 27-29: First targeted ad. Run a small ad on Facebook/Instagram (for 50-100 BGN), aimed exclusively at people within a 5-10 km radius of Bansko.
- ✅ Day 30: Celebrate the launch! Your business in Bansko is now legally up and running and working for you. It's time to reward yourself with a hike in the mountains or a nice dinner in the Old Town.
