🚗 How to get there? (Logistics)

The starting point is the well-known Betolovoto area, which is located just a few kilometers above the town of Razlog. A convenient and well-maintained asphalt road leads there. You can leave your car in the designated wide parking spaces in the area of local hotels and forestry farms. From there, the clearly marked hiking trail starts, leading to the archaeological site on the hill.

🥾 Trail description

The hike begins as a wide and gentle forest path that winds through beautiful mixed and deciduous forests. The terrain is extremely soft and pleasant to walk on, covered mostly with dirt and fallen leaves in the fall. Along the path, there are comfortable resting places with wooden benches, which make the walk even more leisurely.

After about 40-50 minutes of easy walking, the trail takes you to a rocky hill – the Kalyata area itself. Here the forest opens up to show you the historical remains of the old fortress walls. Although not fully restored, the fortress carries the spirit of antiquity, and from the hill you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views of Rila, the Rhodope Mountains and the entire expanse of the valley.

The terrain around the ruins themselves can be slightly overgrown and rocky, so be careful, especially if you have small children. Under no circumstances don't climb on the remains of the walls, to avoid causing collapse and to keep the historical heritage intact. During the summer months, there may be more insects on the forest path, so repellent is recommended. The coverage of mobile operators here is excellent.
