🥾 Description of the route
1. Stage: Bansko → Peshterite area
The route starts with a gentle climb from the upper part of the city. It goes mostly through a pleasant forested area, which makes it ideal for warming up. After about 3 to 4 hours of leisurely walking you will reach the Caves area - a popular recreation and picnic area with a fountain and places to rest.
2. Stage: Peshterite area → Banderitsa hut
From the Caves the trail continues upstream along the Banderitsa River. Here the forest becomes significantly thicker and the slope increases slightly. Just before the Banderitsa hut, be sure to make a short detour for photos at the Baykushevata mura. This section takes between 3 and 4 hours depending on your pace.
3. Stage: Banderitsa hut → Vihren hut
This is the final and shortest stage of the hike. The distance between the two huts takes about 30-40 minutes. The trail is clearly marked and goes above the forest belt, offering impressive views of the marble massif of Vihren Peak.
