The heart of the action
This is where the crowds gather — and here are the best runs for carving in the morning.
Insider tip: The Plateau 1 and 2 slopes are groomed from 05:00. If you are there at 08:30, you will be skiing on "corduroy" before everyone else.
For technicians only
Tomba is steep, icy, and unforgiving. The plateau holds snow for the longest time of the season.
Insider tip: In winds over 40 km/h, the lifts here stop first - watch the board before going up so you don't get stuck up there.
Survival strategies
„"The Battle of the Gondola""
On peak days (especially February) the wait can exceed 2 hours. You need a plan.
The "08:15" Rule (For Early Risers)
The lift opens at 08:30 — you're there at 08:00. You'll be skiing on freshly groomed slopes, with no one around.
"Late Chicken" Tactics (For the Calm)
The peak is between 09:00 and 10:30. At noon the queue disappears - the card is valid until 16:30. Breakfast, then the track.
VIP Card (High Budget)
Available from Kempinski and Premier. Direct access without the queue — if your budget allows.
The bus/car alternative
To Banderishka meadow (12–15 km). Private shuttles to the ski area without the gondola at all.

Vending machines (Kiosks)
- In front of the starting station, they work 24/7
- Usually no queue, unlike checkouts
- All types of cards — daily, multi-day, family
- Best for: spontaneous decisions of the day
MaxSport stores (in the city)
- Buy the night before — no morning stress
- Shorter wait times, live help with questions
- Map in hand before leaving the hotel
- Best for: organized groups and families

Safety & Freeride
Bansko is world famous for its freeride zones, but the chutes under Todorka do not forgive poor judgment.
Golden rules off the slopes
- Never alone: necessarily with a company with experience.
- Avalanche bulletin: check in the morning on BEPSA.
- Required equipment: avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel — and the skills to use them!
Insurance — read the fine print
- The standard map covers ONLY marked runs.
- Accident in the woods or gullies = you pay for the rescue (four-figure sums).
- Solution: "Extreme Sports" / "Mountain Insurance" — only 3–4 BGN/day.
The unique finale
The ski road
7 kilometers from Banderishka Polyana directly to the center of Bansko — one of the biggest advantages of the resort.
Scenic route
A gentle slope running through beautiful pine forests. Suitable for all levels.
Illuminated after sunset
The road is lit! You can go down it after 5:00 PM — watch out for snowmobiles after 5:30 PM.
Priority snowmaking
Snow machines work here as a priority — the road is open almost the entire season.
