The Belizmata Dam

This is the undisputed favorite for picnic around Bansko. Located just a 5-10 minute drive from the center (or a 30 minute pleasant walk), the dam offers idyllic tranquility.

  • Features: Separate tables, long wooden benches and designated barbecue areas.
  • For children: There is a small playground, and the ducks in the dam are always an attraction for the little ones.
  • Bonus: The restaurant on the dam itself is excellent. If you forget your food, you can order everything you need there.

The Krinets Dam

Less popular than Belizmata, but quieter. It is located at the upper end of the city, just above the stadium and the Gondola district. The place is famous for its fish restaurant, but the meadows around the water are free to spread out a blanket. The view of the peaks here is one of the most photogenic at sunset.

“Rolbana” trail (The road to Vihren hut)

This is the paved road that connects the city to the mountain (in winter it functions as a ski trail). Since it is closed to cars in this section, it is a favorite place for mothers with strollers and cyclists.

Editor's Tip: Massive structures have been built along the road. wooden gazebos with fountains. They are strategically placed in the shade and are perfect for a quick lunch without having to wade through the grass or watch out for insects.

For those who want to feel the true energy of Pirin and escape the crowds, we recommend the following locations. They require minimal equipment and a willingness to take a short walk.

“St. Nicholas” area (The Waterfall and the Chapel)

Located between Bansko and Dobrinishte, this area is an archaeological complex with a rich history. A Thracian necropolis was found here, but for picnic lovers, the views are more important.

  • Conditions: Next to the chapel there is a large wooden table with benches. The place is sunny and sheltered from the wind.

Chalin Valog (Intermediate station)

Many tourists underestimate Chalin Valog, rushing to the top, but this is a mistake. The meadows here are wide, flat and full of herbs and dandelions in spring and summer. Banderishka Polyana and the Baykushevata Mur

Although in the summer Banderishka Polyana is a center of attractions (water slide, mini golf), if you move just 200 meters to the side towards the forest, you will find coolness under the centuries-old mulberry trees.

Be sure to combine the picnic with a visit to Baikusheva mura – the oldest coniferous tree in Bulgaria (over 1300 years old). There are wooden grills built around it for seating.

3. “The Fishermen”: For connoisseurs of fresh food

This is a specific category for picnics around Bansko – places where the pleasure of fishing meets culinary delights.
