Why choice matters
The right equipment
makes the difference
Pirin offers an extremely diverse terrain. In the morning the slopes are hard and perfectly groomed, in the afternoon the snow softens, and beyond the markings deep powder awaits you. The choice should be based on your level and the conditions of the day.
Forgiving mistakes
Shorter, softer skis or snowboards, easy to control at low speed on blue runs like The Shiligarnika.
Stability and control
All-Mountain gear for confident riding on red runs like Balkaniade, with precise traction at higher speeds.
Specialized appliances
Freeride skis for powder, splitboards for panting to the top, hard boards for extreme carving on the ice of "Tomba".
Always match your equipment to the weather! In heavy snowfall - wider skis or a freeride snowboard. In clear and cold weather - carving equipment for the ideal slopes.

Everything you need
to dress
In addition to the equipment, the right clothing and accessories are critical for warmth, safety, and comfort on the track. Click on the maps for more information.
Ski helmet
The most important accessory. Protects against impacts in the event of a fall. Choosing the right size and certification (EN 1077) is critical.
Ski goggles
Goggles protect against UV, wind and snow. Choose the right lenses — light for foggy weather, dark for sunny weather.
Ski jacket
Waterproof, windproof and breathable. Gore-Tex membrane or similar - minimum 10,000 mm water column.
Ski pants
Same requirements as the jacket — membrane and reinforced knees. Bibs provide additional protection from snow.
Thermal underwear
The base layer manages moisture. Merino wool or synthetics — never cotton, as it traps moisture and makes you cold.
Ski gloves
Waterproof and warm. Mittens (one-fingered gloves) provide more warmth; gloves give better control of the poles.
Hat and balaclava
Under the helmet — a thin hat or merino balaclava. The balaclava also covers the face in extreme cold and wind.
Ski socks / Buff
A neck gaiter protects the neck and lower face. A must-have in cold temperatures.
Ski boots
The right fit is everything — neither loose nor tight. The flex index should match your level.
Ski socks
Special merino ski socks — knee-length, with reinforced heel and toes. Never two pairs at once!
Protectors
Back protectors, knee pads, and wrist protectors (when snowboarding) significantly reduce the risk of injuries.
Ski poles
They help with balance and rhythm when riding. The length is determined by turning the stick over — the elbow angle should be 90°.
