Winter hikes are recommended only for well-prepared, informed and equipped tourists.

⛷️ Ski touring and off-piste skiing

This sport is a combination of cross-country skiing and alpine skiing techniques. It is usually performed in groups of 3 to 10 people.

The most popular ski-crossing routes:

  • Shiligarnika mountain range – Banderitsa hut – Vihren hut – ridge between Muratov peak and Ovinati peak – Vihren peak.
  • Vihren hut – Ovinati ezera – ridge between Muratov Vrah and Donchovi Karauli – Spano Pole hut – Yane Sandanski hut.
  • Todorka peak – Malka Todorka peak and descent options.
  • Bezbog hut – Bezbog peak – Golyam Polezhan peak – Gazeya circus – Demyanitsa hut – Bansko town.

Mountaineering in Pirin began in 1934 with the ascent of the right part of the funnel on the north face of Vihren Peak.

Before you head to the peaks, it's important to know the terminology:

Route No. 1 (part of E-4) has a total length of 47 km in the park. Conditionally divided:

  • "Predel" hut - "Yavorov" hut„ (6 hours)
  • "Yavorov" hut - "Vihren" hut„ (9 hours)
  • x. "Whirlwind" - h. "Tevno Lake"„ (6 hours 30 minutes)
  • h. "Tevno Lake" - h. "Pirin"„ (4 hours)
  • Pirin hut – Popovi Livadi village (8 hours)
